Fraueninsel / Chiemsee

We went with the paddle wheel steamer boat over to the prettiest little island, called Fraueninsel (this means women‘s island, probably because of the sisters living in the cloister). It is in the lake Chiemsee and it is really super nicely dolled up with pretty flowers, the white towering cloister and – most important! – some nice beer gardens and restaurants where you can eat fish from the Chiemsee, super fresh and just brought in by the 6 remaining professional fishermen living on the island.
We had a delicious Matjes of the Chiemseerenke (that’s the fish) in a roll, it was fab! I don‘t think I‘ve ever had fresher fish in my life.
